About Us
The Lewis & Ruth Sherman Foundation is a private, not-for-profit philanthropic organization established in 1986 by Lewis & Ruth Sherman in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

The Sherman Foundation provides financial support for innovative projects and research within the education and healthcare fields, while supporting efforts to combat the effects of poverty.
It is the Foundation’s goal to improve the quality of life of local communities, and to a limited extent, internationally, by collaborating with charities and organizations that have far-reaching positive effects.
Today, a new generation of Sherman family members continue with the philanthropy that Lewis & Ruth envisioned and instilled.

The Sherman Foundation remains focused on the key pillars set out those many years ago — Healthcare, Education and Poverty — with refined priorities based on the identified needs of the community.

We are investing currently in: children's mental health, scholarship opportunities, youth mentorship and learning programs, food insecurity solutions, and programs that provide impactful experiences to youth who may not have access to them otherwise.

Donation Requests — by invitation only — are considered by the Board of Directors on an annual basis. Grant recipients must align with the Foundation's focus of projects within education, healthcare, and combating the effects of poverty.
